A fish aquarium is a great addition to any house. Fish can be very tranquil and appealing pets. Caring for fish is an enjoyable hobby for old and young alike. Tiger barbs and Cherry barbs are also great for the beginning aquarist. Usually they are not ideal for a community aquarium that has other species of small fish since they tend to fin nip. If kept with other small barb species they are quite suitable. Children tend to be drawn to the way these fish swim in schools and they are available in a variety of colors. In large tanks they are very active and pleasing to watch.

Letting a child have an aquarium is a very rewarding experience for them but you need to ensure that the selection of fish you choose are hardy and appropriate for the aquarium. You don't want to choose fish that will not survive the aquarium's first cycle. Also, opt for colourful ones that will appeal to a child the most.
